Zundfolge/Editorial

Changing of the Guard

The man, the myth, the legend - DavidLightfoot

Over the last 44 years I’ve been on the Club’s board for 43 of those years and the Zündfolge Editor for about 25 of those years. That changed last week, September 23rd at our most recent board meeting, when Andy Wiest became Editor-in-Chief and I took the new title of Editor Emeritus.

This has been a couple of years in the making as we needed to wait for Andy to retire from the military and be in a position to spend more time on the Club. Zündfolge, including the content on the chapter website and other communications, will now be the responsibility of Andy.

He will be ably assisted by Darko Spoljaric, who already takes responsibility of these Z-Mails. Of course, there are a lot of other volunteers contributing behind the scenes and creating content. You could join us!

In the meantime, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll be here to help with content creation and providing historical background. I’ll still be a member of the board but this is definitely on the glide path to full retirement from the board in the next few years.

Just know that if you write to Editor-in-Chief@bmw-club-psr.org, you’ll be getting Andy rather than David from now on!

--David Lightfoot, Editor Emeritus

I am honored to be the next Editor-in-Chief of Zündfolge. For those who may recognize me, I am a former President of the chapter and look forward to contributing again to our Ultimate Driving Machine Chapter of the BMWCCA. David is a great friend and mentor, and while I cannot hope to fill his shoes in this role, with his rich history with the club and the outstanding job he has done curating our club’s paper and then online “paper of record”, I will “bring my own shoes” to carry the work forward the best that I can. I am grateful to David for staying on as Editor Emeritus and helping me smoothly transition into the role. I am also very grateful for Darko for his professionalism and assistance in keeping the gears running!
