Sports Car Market is out with its 2025 Pocket Price Guide, their 29th Annual Edition. Values are based on publicly available data from auctions and online sales. The magazine’s editors adjust the price ranges based on the most recent sales and their ‘read’ on the market. They also rate each model’s collectability rating using a scale of A (the best, think Ferrari) or D (above average cars).

BMW values over the last year have been stable with one exception mentioned below.

Prewar

Only three models of prewar BMWs even rate a mention in this guide. 327/28 coupes are valued at $180,000 to $270,000, while 327/28 cabriolets are valued at $235,000 to $330,000. Regular 327s, either coupes or cabriolets, are not considered worthy for the guide. Regular 327s have 2.0-liter inline sixes with 55 horsepower. 327/28s have the cylinder head from the 328, which boosts horsepower to 80. The 328 sports car values range from $570,000 to $825,000.

1950s

The 503 coupes from the late 1950s are valued at $190,000 to $240,000. The 503 convertible is a bit more valuable, ranging from $290,000 to $395,000. The only Grade A investment BMW is the 507, built from 1956-1959, and is valued at $2,000,000 to $2,750,000. Only 253 were made.

E9 Coupes

The only BMWs with an upward price trend over the last year have been the E9 coupes. The 2800CS is the entry-level coupe valued at $45,000 to $85,000. The 3.0 CS is at $50,000 to $115,000. Add injection with the 3.0 CSi and now we’re up to $62,000 to $130,000. The street version of the 3.0 CSL takes us up another notch to $160,000 to $350,000. The king-of-the-hill 3.0 CSL ‘Batmobile’ is now valued at $275,000-$550,000. E9 Coupes are considered Grade B collectibles.

M1

The 1979-1980 street M1 is valued from $450,000 to $725,000. M1 Procars aren’t included in the Guide but expect prices of $1 million and up.

Alpina Z8Alpina Z82003 Alpina Z8

Z8

2000-2003 Z8s go for $150,000 to $280,000. The big value range is mostly due to mileage, with the market valuing very low mileage examples. The Z8 Alpina Roadster, made for only 2003, has a value range of $200,000 to $375,000.

Others

Many other lesser BMWs are included in the Guide, too many to mention here. Subscribe to Sports Car Market if you’re interested in keeping up with collectible BMW trends.
