Tour to The Ridge

Join BMW club members on Thursday, July 17th for another great day of touring! This will be a relatively short tour at about 85 miles from Federal Way to The Ridge Motorsports Park track (near Shelton) where pre-registered BMW club members are participating in High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) driving classes.

From Federal Way, we cruise around Tacoma, cross the Narrows Bridge that replaced "Galloping Gurdy", stop at a really cool coffee shop, and continue along scenic roads that line South Puget Sound and Hood Canal. Nice weather should provide us with gorgeous views of the water and Olympic Mountains.

The Ridge Motorsports Park is an amazing newer venue featuring a wide smooth surface and plenty of elevation changes you will see for yourself: We will run a few parade laps during the HPDE lunch break. No helmets or tech inspection will be required for the parade laps however we ask you to secure everything in the car that may cause injury in an accident or place it in the trunk.

After the parade laps, “Ride-alongs”, where you get to be a passenger in a high-performance vehicle driven by an instructor, may possibly be available. If interested, bring proof of COVID vaccination and a mask. Helmets are required. Club sanitized helmets will be available at the track. At the conclusion of our events, you may want to stay and watch what our HPDEs are all about. Careful! You may get hooked!

Lunch is not part of our tour. The track has a small café that may be open. Other options for lunch are to bring your own or visit restaurants in Shelton a few miles away.

We will meet in Federal Way at 8:30 am and roll out after any open paperwork is completed and we have a driver’s meeting. Early Monday morning, July 17, everyone registered will receive an email with all details including a tour map and other materials. A starting location will be located and provided to registered participants on 320th in Federal Way. You need to read everything and get your questions answered prior to Thursday morning.
